Jambur / Lower Basic School
Adjustments to existing elementary school:
new construction of
wing with four classrooms, library and office, renovation of wing with four
classrooms, staff room and storage space, renovation / expansion of water supply
and toilets, new furniture.
Jambur is a village near Brikama.
The population is very poor, living
from agriculture.
Besides the school and
the mosque, the village has no facilities.
Jambur Lower Basic School has 450 students.
Students come running from neighbouring villages.
This project is funded by the Dutch Foundation ‘KOS Oost Gelre", with grant of
the Dutch organisations Wilde Ganzen and NCDO.
Wilde Ganzen has positively
evaluated the project and is giving financial assistance, the grant application
is pending at NCDO and is seen as positive.
Foundation BUGANALA is the coordinator of this project.
Foundation to Build is the constructor. KOS Oost Gelre uses the first part
of 2010 for the fundraising, the constructions are planned to be started in
September 2010.
The Ministry
of Education in The Gambia supports this project.
