Our visit to Gambia in November 2007 was successful.

The construction of the schools for deaf children and deaf girls goes according to plan. The construction will be ready at the end of 2007. The finishing touch will be done in the first months of 2008. This is no obstacle to GADHOH Female Wing to move to the new building in Kanifing in January next..
The building looks nicely. Congratulations to Gert Jan van der Marel of Foundation To Build and his team. Without them, it should not have been possible to build such a school.

Many things have been initiated:

bullet

A local carpenter got an order for making tables and benches for the nursery school, tables and chairs for the literacy room and the knitting room.

bullet

Agreements have been made for outside playing materials: swing, see-saw and slide. These materials will be placed in February next.

bullet

We started with an investigation if it is possible to make borehole for the water supply, with pump and tank on solar.

bullet

At the time when there is water, trees and flowers will be planted to create shade and to give the area a pleasant face.

bullet

A minibus has been bought for the transport of the children and girls.

 School fees are paid for:

bullet

11 deaf children at the GADHOH Nursery School.

bullet

5 children who go to Cherno Baba Nursery School.

bullet

5 children who go to other nursery schools.

bullet

10 children who go to primary schools.

bullet

a boy who goes to the upper basic school.

bullet

a boy of 17 years, who got a scholarship to do a three years vocational training.

Education materials are donated to different schools: puzzles, block, games, dolls, cars, lego blocks, books, chalk, sewing machines.
We distributed a lot of clothing. We got these clothes (t-shirts, trousers, dresses, shoes etc.) in the Netherlands from family and friends.
And we got a lot of stuff from a shop in second-hand children's clothes in Apeldoorn, which also is distributed.

On behalf of all the children, their parents and the schools: Jerejef, Jerejef, Abaraka (thanks, thanks, thanks).

The construction of the nursery school for deaf children and the skills centre for deaf little girls may be ready in December, the project is not yet finished.
Many things can be improved. With your support, we hope to do so.

There are new pictures on the website now.

We wish you a prosperous 2008.
