

St. John's School for the Deaf
With Foundation 'A school for
Gunjur', Nieuw Vennep, The Netherlands as financial donor and
Foundation To Build, The Netherlands, working in The Gambia as the
constructor, two workshops, kitchen and shed as extension of the existing school
for deaf children (8-17 years, grade 1-9) have been realised.
In February 2006 the project started by laying the first stone.
In April 2006, construction has started and in December 2006 the building
process was finished.
A group of nine deaf boys has
successfully cooperated in this project.
On 29 March 2007 the official
opening took place.

St. John's School for the Deaf
has now beside the existing facilities, two workshops for metalwork and
carpentry, a kitchen for the construction of the daily meals for the students
and shed.
St. John's School for the Deaf is the only school in The Gambia for deaf
children (grade 1 - 9). The school has a population of some 200 students.
